Our Mission in Action

Check out our Make A Difference Day video ~ Thanks to all who volunteered!

Laura spoke at Good Shepherd Hospital’s National Cancer Survivor Day in 2013. She shared her experience as a caregiver for her husband and how that led to the creation of Albums of Hope:

The albums of hope are so small, but filled with huge, heart-warming, encouraging thoughts, during a very difficult time. Just reading the album makes me take a deep breath, relax and smile. I carry it with me. Thank you for having these available. -from a patient at Rush University Cancer Center

We are so appreciative of our partnership with Albums of Hope here at the IMD Guest House. For over a year now we have put the little albums out for our guests to take or share with their loved ones going through a difficult time medically. I enjoy listening in as I hear our guests sorting through the albums, finding one that really speaks to them. The encouraging phrases inside are so meaningful in this stressful period of their lives. We are grateful for Albums of Hope and the light it brings during a dark time! –Jan Kroeschell, Volunteer Coordinator at Illinois Medical District Guest House

Thank you so much for bringing a little sunshine into the lives of our families! In such a stressful time, your “Albums of Hope” bring a light distraction to children and adults of all ages! –Anne Czarnecki, Senior House Director, Ronald McDonald House near Advocate Children’s Hospital

Of all the things we have available to help support the people I take care of and their families, these albums are truly unique. People really enjoy them. The way they fit in a pocket or a purse allows them to be easily carried so that anybody can get a quick emotional lift whenever they need one. We feel both lucky and happy to have them available in our office. — Michael B Soble, MD, North Shore Oncology-Hematology Associates

These albums are inspirational even not having a life-changing health diagnosis. –Debbie Miller, nurse at Gavers Breast Center

I volunteer with Albums of Hope to give back. My mom had cancer and it is nice to return the positives that others gave her. –Joell L.

The Albums of Hope are a great tool that we use every day with our patients. Your thoughtfulness and generosity is greatly appreciated. On behalf of the Child Life staff and pediatric families, THANK YOU! –Katie Hammerberg, Child Life Specialist, Alexian Bros. Women and Children’s Hospital
